ABOUT:
Intentional Beginnings in conjunction with Forward Movement Inc. and the Department for Behavioral Health Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities and the Kentucky Opioid Response Effort (KORE) is pleased to announce the 2021-2022 trainings for Peer Support Specialists (PSS) and Supervisors of Peer Support Specialists who serve individuals with Substance Use Disorder (SUD). All trainings for 2021-2022 will be delivered live through the magic of technology (aka Zoom).
This year’s training series offers PSS and Supervisors an opportunity to extend their learning into practice as each training held will be followed with a series of five (5) Skill Building Learning Collaborative Sessions for PSS and three (3) Learning Community Sessions for Supervisors.
Note: All those who attended a 2-day training (as a PSS or as a Supervisor) after September 2020 and who didn’t get to participate in the Learning Collaborative is encouraged to reach out to our Participant Support Specialist, Whitney Ballard, w.richardson1225@gmail.com, where they can get registered for the LC sessions only.
Those who have participated in our trainings before September of 2020 and who want to update their Recovery Planning Skills are encouraged to attend Day 2 of the 2-Day PSS Training and the 5 Learning Collaborative Sessions. We advise reaching out to our Participant Support Specialist Whitney Ballard, w.richardson1225@gmail.com, to get registered.

The PSS Training is open to anyone who is working in the role of a Peer Support Specialist in any setting. You do not have to be a Certified APSS to attend. And while the training is focused on the work of Peers it is highly recommended for supervisors of Peers and others who find themselves in a role where they provide services to individuals and families with SUD. This might include employment specialists, family support, social workers etc…
The PSS Supervisor Training is open to anyone who is in the role of supervising Peer Support – this includes those who may be in the role of lead peer as well as those who meet the regulations for supervising peers.
The simple answer is no – the cost of the training is covered through KORE
This 2-day training is different from a Certification Training. Certification Trainings by statute are at least 30 hours in length.
In one word, yes! Yes, you can! The 2-day training will give you 13 hrs. and each Learning Session will give you 1.5 hrs. of CEUs.
We are currently working on securing CEUs for these licensures.

Ask yourself - have you attended training with Sharon and Lonnetta before?
If you came to PSS or PSS Supervisor Training when it was live you would've received a large manual that looked like the picture above.
If you attended Recovery Planning, you would've received a booklet with materials that look like the image above.
If you attended Recovery Planning (both live and virtual), you practiced developing a Recovery Plan on a worksheet that looked like this.
Welcome back! We would love to have you join us for one of our learning collaboratives. Please reach out to our
